TeamMONASH™ enjoy success at the Traralgon Marathon

Thirty-five TeamMONASH™ runners braved wet conditions to take on the annual Traralgon Marathon on Sunday 15 June.

Monash University Gippsland Student Union organised the team participation, backed up by eight volunteers, for the first TeamMONASH™ entry in a Gippsland based community fitness event.

MUGSU Sport and Recreation Director Shane Stevens said TeamMONASH™ events were “a great way for MUGSU and Monash University to contribute to our local community”.

“It was a great spectacle to see international students, local students, staff and the wider community all running for TeamMONASH™”, he said.

Community members joined the Monash University crew as part of TeamMONASH™, including Latrobe City Council Marketing and Communications Officer Josh Graham.

Mr Graham said the positive attitude and smiling faces of Monash staff and volunteers made the day most enjoyable.

“This was my first distance run and the support of TeamMONASH™ has definitely made the experience a positive one. To run with TeamMONASH™ was one of the major motivations to arrive on Sunday,” Mr Graham said.  “I look forward to pulling on the TeamMONASH™ colours again for either the Melbourne Marathon or the Around the Bay in a Day later this year.
