AUG Uniform Presentation and Captains Announced
Monash University athletes were presented with their uniforms for the 2005 Australian University Games on Friday 16th September. This year's games will be held in Brisbane from 25th - 30th September. The Monash University team is comprised of 365 athletes across 25 sports with 33 teams. The taekwondo team are hot favourites to bring back gold. The representative athletes will compete amongst approximately 5000 athletes from around the Nation.
Senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor Stephen Parker, encouraged the athletes, wishing the team well for their AUG sporting competition. John White, advisor to the Vice-Chancellor on Sport and President of Australian University Sport, addressed the athletes, inspiring them to compete well and hard for Monash.
The overall team captains were announced and John White presented them with their captain badges. Rosanda Buljubasich from soccer and Alex McKenzie from Australian Rules football are excited about their captaincy roles. Both athletes are also sport managers for their teams and are great ambassadors for Monash University.
