Second place overall for Monash at the Australian University Games

The Monash University team placed second overall at the Australian University Games held in Adelaide 24-29th September, ahead of 38 other Universities. This sealed the best result since 1998 and followed on from the overall win at the Southern University Games in July this year.

The women's squash and ten pin bowling teams achieved gold medals in their competitions. Silver medals were won by women's badminton, baseball, women's beach volleyball, mixed netball and men's squash. The men's badminton, men's and women's hockey, men's tennis and women's volleyball teams were successful in bringing home bronze.

General Manager of Monash Sport, Martin Doulton, said "the athlete's behaviour on and off the field was exemplary, they were a credit to the University and wore their Monash Uniforms with a real pride. The organisation of our involvement in the Games was also outstanding; a real credit to the Monash Sport team for coordinating the logistics of accommodating, transporting and entering 340 students from all our Victorian campuses as well as facilitating the personal growth, responsibility and leadership that the 30 student Sport Managers displayed".
