Amy's Ride 2008

It all hit home after the emotional speech by Amy’s mum and then the send off from Cadel Evans.

This was a ride that signified better relationships for everyone on the road.
We are all human and valuable and loved. There is no reason for people to die on the roads.

Cadel Evans , Australian Sportsperson of the Year and runner up in this years TdF, lead the bunch of some 2000 out on the combined 65 and 120km rides.

It was windy and gloriously cool and refreshing after some hot days of 35+ degrees .

Predominantly road bikes and flat bar roadies dominated, so some nicely formed and cooperative bunches grouped and worked the windy conditions together.

As fast or as easy as you liked, sitting in having a chat and chasing across to the next bunch to catch up with familiar faces was the nature of the day.

Some stopped for lattes in Port Arlington , some needed water and squeezies!

No hills , glorious beachside scenery and summer fashions were the visual backdrop to this trip around the Peninsula. Postcards.

Great organization and marshalling , well policed and supported all day saw the majority of riders smash through the last few kms with a booming tail wind in the 53X12.

Rolling in to the start finish we were greeted by the dulcet tones of the dapper and everyoung Phil Liggett asking “How was your ride?”

“ Great thanks Phil” , See you next year
